Contemporary table lamps add to the decor of a room in two ways: it gives light where needed. It is a decoration that can expand on a room theme. Lamps can be made from almost anything: piano legs, old books, wine bottles, cigar boxes, metal toys. Add whimsy a children’s room by making a lamp from stacked wooden alphabet blocks, or getting romance to your dining room with a teacup lamp.
Drill a hole at the bottom of the bottle near the base so the contemporary table lamps will sit level on a table. Connect the cord to the hole you drilled and slide up through the body of the bottle to come out of the neck. Thread the cord through the spindle of the rubber cap. Push the cap into the bottle until it is secure. Screw the harp base to the spindle. Fill the bottle with balls, sand or other material to stabilize the lamp when seated on a table.
Divide the cord into two pieces about 2 inches down, then strip each piece of cord one ½ inch from the end and connect both pieces to the socket. Wires and terminals are color coded to make it easy to match them properly. Tighten the screws for the terminal. Screw the socket to the spindle and tighten the screw. Attach the socket assembly together by the fastening function cover to the base. Attach the harp to the harp base and place the contemporary table lamps shade on the harp. Screw finial to the top of the harp, secure the lampshade.
